LOS
AURORA
Los Aurora are one of the most singular ensembles in contemporary flamenco, a project that blends tradition, jazz and classical music with a modern, highly personal aesthetic. The group was born in Barcelona and is led by singer Pere Martínez, together with Joan Carles Marí on drums, Max Villavecchia on piano and Javi Garrabella on bass. Their proposal stems from the desire to reinterpret flamenco from an open perspective, incorporating refined arrangements and a sensitivity that connects with diverse audiences.
Their first album, Aurora, dedicated to the work of Manuel de Falla, quickly placed them on national and international festival stages. Since then, they have performed at venues such as the Festival de Jerez, Mercat de Música Viva de Vic and the Flamenco Festival in New York, consolidating a trajectory marked by innovation and a sound that expands the boundaries of today’s flamenco.
MUSICAL
STYLE
Los Aurora’s style is defined by a balanced fusion of flamenco, jazz and contemporary music. Their sound is rooted in the voice of Pere Martínez, which brings the depth and expressiveness of flamenco, while the piano, bass and drums create a harmonic and rhythmic environment influenced by modern jazz and academic music. This blend generates a distinctive language where improvisation, detailed arrangements and a carefully crafted aesthetic coexist.
In their projects, the group works with open structures that allow dialogue between the musicians, always keeping flamenco essence as the central axis. Their ability to reinterpret classical repertoire and bring it into a contemporary space has expanded the possibilities of chamber flamenco, offering a fresh, elegant and deeply musical approach.
LIVE
PERFORMANCE
Live, Los Aurora deliver an intense and finely crafted experience in which the power of the cante combines with an instrumentation that brings color and depth. Their concerts can be presented as a quartet or with occasional guest collaborators, always with an approach in which each musician plays a leading role. The blend of precise arrangements and improvisation creates a dynamic performance full of contrasts and moments of strong expressiveness.
The interaction among the members and their way of building atmospheres give each performance a unique character. Their elegant, contemporary sound transforms the stage into a space where flamenco converses naturally with jazz and modern music, offering a proposal that resonates with both aficionados and new audiences.
