RAÚL
RODRÍGUEZ

Raúl Rodríguez is one of the most singular figures in roots music in Spain, creator of the tres flamenco and a key reference in the study of the connections between flamenco and Afro‑Atlantic traditions. The son of Martirio, he trained as a guitarist, anthropologist and producer, developing a career that blends research, creation and an open vision of folklore. He has collaborated with Kiko Veneno, Santiago Auserón, Javier Ruibal and Chano Domínguez, consolidating a path where tradition and modernity coexist.

With albums such as Razón de Son and La Raíz Eléctrica, he has taken his project to stages across Europe, the Americas and Africa. His work stands out for its search for cultural connections, experimentation with new sonorities and an identity that places the tres flamenco at the centre of a personal, ever‑evolving musical language.

MUSICAL
STYLE

Raúl Rodríguez’s style is defined by a deep blend of flamenco, Afro‑Caribbean music, Andalusian folklore and músicas de ida y vuelta. His tres flamenco brings a unique sound, marked by a strong rhythmic pulse and a melodic approach that balances tradition with experimentation. His use of open harmonies, Afro‑Latin patterns and structures rooted in flamenco creates a personal language full of nuance and strong cultural identity.

In his projects, Rodríguez uses the tres as a tool for research and creation, exploring historical and musical connections between Andalusia, the Caribbean and Latin America. His ability to integrate compás, improvisation and roots‑based elements turns his music into a space where memory, modernity and a broad cultural vision coexist. The result is a singular, recognisable and deeply expressive style.
