SERGIO
DE LOPE
Sergio de Lope is one of the most prominent musicians of the new generation of instrumental flamenco, an artist who has taken the flute and the saxophone into a personal territory where tradition, improvisation and a contemporary outlook coexist. Born in Priego de Córdoba, he trained in conservatories and peñas flamencas, developing a language that integrates compás, melody and a sensibility close to jazz and world music. His international projection began after winning the Filón Minero in La Unión, a recognition that propelled his career.
He has performed at festivals across Europe, the Americas and the Middle East, and has collaborated with artists such as Farruquito, Dorantes and David Peña Dorantes. With projects like Ser de Luz, he has shown an open vision of flamenco, incorporating modern arrangements and an approach that expands the possibilities of wind instruments within the genre.
musical
style
Sergio de Lope’s style is defined by a natural blend of flamenco tradition, improvisation and a melodic approach influenced by Mediterranean music and contemporary jazz. His flute brings a warm, expressive sound, while the saxophone introduces more modern colours, creating a language where lyricism, compás and creative freedom coexist. His work with dynamics and accents reflects a deep knowledge of flamenco and a constant curiosity for other musical languages.
In his projects, De Lope uses wind instruments as a leading voice that dialogues with rhythm and harmony. His ability to integrate bulerías, tangos or soleás with open structures and expansive harmonies produces a personal, elegant and highly communicative style that connects with diverse audiences without losing authenticity.
live
performance
Live, Sergio de Lope offers an intense, immersive experience in which the flute and saxophone become the axis of the musical narrative. His concerts—whether in trio, quartet or larger formats—are built around a natural coexistence of compás and improvisation. The way he shapes melodies and interacts with the ensemble creates an atmosphere full of energy and sensitivity.
The blend of influences he works with and his command of wind instruments give each performance its own character. His sound, rich in nuance and marked by a very personal musicality, transforms the stage into a space where tradition and modernity flow together, delivering a powerful and deeply expressive live show.
